Cool vs. Cruel Competition
Are you a Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing & Management or Fashion Retail Management student at The Art Institutes who can design and create an evening wear, outerwear or suit garment that highlights modern cruelty-free alternatives to animal fur? Then perhaps you should consider entering Cool vs. Cruel 2009. In partnership with The Humane Society of the United States, this competition challenges fashion students attending The Art Institutes schools to re-interpret and improve four pre-determined haute couture garments by using fur-free fabrics and materials. To view this year’s runway designs, visit the Cool vs. Cruel Web site.
The Grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City for the awards ceremony and an all-expenses-paid five day internship with an acclaimed fashion designer involved in The Humane Society’s Fur-Free Campaign.
Deadlines
Designs and all other entry requirements should be submitted to the school’s Academic Director for Fashion by September 25, 2009.
The Fashion Department of each participating Art Institutes school will select one local first place winner whose design will go on to represent that school in the national competition. All local winners will be announced in October; national winners will be announced in November.
